Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from www.pacificpackers.ca (the “Site”).

Personal information we collect

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information”.

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:
- “Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. For more information about cookies, and how to disable cookies, visit http://www.allaboutcookies.org.
- “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
- “Web beacons”, “tags”, and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site.

Additionally when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card numbers and other payment types on this site), email address, and phone number. We refer to this information as “Order Information”.

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Order Information.

How do we use your information

We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, we use this Order Information to:
- Communicate with you;
- Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud; and
- When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

Facebook Business Page

You use the functions offered (such as share, comment, rate etc.) on your own responsibility.

What information is recorded?

When visiting our Facebook page, Facebook automatically records various information. What information Facebook ultimately records is unknown to us. This information is recorded regardless of whether you have a Facebook account or you are logged into your existing Facebook account at the time of your visit. The information recorded by Facebook can be found under https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/update?ref=old_policy: “What type of information do we collect?”

Assignment of the visit to our Facebook page to your Facebook account

When accessing our Facebook page, the IP address assigned to your terminal is transmitted to Facebook. According to information from Facebook, this IP address is anonymized & deleted after 90 days. Facebook also stores information about the terminals of its users (e.g. in the course of the “Log on notification” function); an assignment of IP addresses to individual users is therefore possible for Facebook, if necessary. If you are currently logged into Facebook as a user, a cookie with your Facebook identifier is on your terminal. Facebook is thereby able to trace how you found this page and how you used it. This also applies for all other Facebook pages you are visiting. Via the Facebook buttons integrated in websites, it is possible for Facebook to record your visits to these websites and to assign them to your Facebook profile. Based on this data, content or advertising can be offered tailored to your needs. Details can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/policies/cookies/

If you would like to prevent this, you should log out of Facebook and deactivate the function “stay logged in”, delete any cookies existing on your device, and close your browser and start it again. If you do so, Facebook information, via which your account can be directly associated with your visit to our page, is deleted. You can then use our Facebook page without your Facebook identifier being disclosed. If you access interactive functions of the page (such as share, comment, rate etc.), a Facebook log in mask appears. After one possible log in, you can again be recognized by Facebook as a specific user.

How is the recorded information used?

The specified data is processed by Facebook for the purposes stated under https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/update?ref=old_policy (“How do we use this information?”) and is thereby potentially transmitted to countries outside the European Union.

What rights do you have?

You have the right to correction, access, transferability and deletion of your data. The exact rights can be found under https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/update?ref=old_policy “How can you exercise your rights granted according to GDPR?”.

Facebook Insights

Some of the information recorded by Facebook is used to provide us, as the operator of this Facebook page, with statistical information on the use of the Facebook page (“Facebook Insights”). Facebook provides further information on this under the following link: http://facebook.com/help/pages/insights

We receive this information entirely anonymized and we therefore assume that the use of this data does not concern a data processing operation which falls under the scope of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). Nevertheless, the European Court of Justice has decided with the judgment from 6/05/2018 (EuGH C-210/16) that the operator of a Facebook page is jointly responsible for the data collections carried out by Facebook within the scope of the Facebook service Facebook Insights. Since we cannot currently rule out a joint responsibility for the collection of data due to this, we would like to hereafter comply with our information requirements as far as it is technically possible for us. We use Facebook Insights on the basis of Art. 6, paragraph 1.1(f) of the GDPR. With the use of the service, we would like to ensure a needs-based design and continuous optimization of our Facebook page. On the other hand, we use the service in order to statistically analyze the use of our Facebook page for the purpose of optimizing our offerings for you.

Legal basis for data processing

Facebook specifies the legal basis for data processing at https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/update?ref=old_policy “What is our legal basis for the processing of data?”.

Facebook remarketing

We use the "Facebook Pixel" from Facebook Inc (1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA, or, if you are based in the EU, Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland ("Facebook")) on our website.

This allows user behavior to be tracked after they have been redirected to the provider's website by clicking on a Facebook ad. This enables us to measure the effectiveness of our Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes. The data collected in this way is anonymous to us, i.e. we do not see the personal data of individual users. However, this data is stored and processed by Facebook, which is why we are informing you, based on our knowledge of the current situation. Facebook may link this information to your Facebook account and also use it for its own promo purposes, in accordance with Facebook's Data Usage Policy which can be found here https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/. You can allow Facebook and its partners to place ads on and off Facebook. A cookie may also be stored on your computer for these purposes.
